03 Dakoter coolant

My 2003 Dakota has been using coolant for awhile. I have owned 2 Jeep Cheerokes and had major cooling problems with the 95 V6. My Dakota is not overheating just leaking coolant. From reading, sounds like timing chain cover, but not completely sure. Looking down and up at engine hard to tell where leak is coming from. Truck has 94,000 mi, std tran., club cab 3.9L. Radiator looks fine, not really wet on front of block, but airflow would keep area somewhat cleaner than side or under. Just the kind of problem don't really want to throw parts at like I did with my 94 cherokee. Parts replaced on Cherokee-- radiator w new/ 3 core, new water pump, thermostat, temp sensor, bled system and it still overheated..
Any ideas would be much appreciated...
