no oil in filter

hi
i replaced a timing chain in my 1985 pick up 22 re thereafter the oil light stayed on .i then changed the oil pump, dropped the oil pan, cleaned the strainer changed oil and filter . the spline for the oil pump is still the original and no physical damage was visible and not replaced .
wherefore no possitive result no oil pressure and the light stayed on and no oil in the filter .what could have been overlooked and or i missed ? to grease the oil pump ? any help would be great :confused:
