2002 Santa Fe Transmission shifting problem

I had some serious problems with my tranny. I started to shift funny and then eventually stayed in 3rd gear. It would go into 1st when started and shift VERY ROUGHLY into 3rd and it stayed there. I could get into 2nd using select shift.

I had read in several locations about an electrical fault but Hey ! its a tranny, not a light. WRONG. It was electrical, and a very simple fix.
Due to some other problems with the starter, all the electrical leads, ground strap etc were cleaned up when the starter was replaced. Guess what. The tranny now shifts like it always did,....very well.

SO. If you are having shifting problem, pay particular attention to ground and all other main connections. A meter couldn't detect this, but maybe a diagnostic computer may have. How many of us have one of those under our shade tree??

I wont embarrass all the folks that told me how to fix it, but I did get the real fix somewhere on this site.
