not sure if my trans is shot or Not, I was going up a hill heard a loud whistle and then lost all drive ! NO fluid on the ground,
But yet There's NO DIP STICK !! :screwy: just a fill port.
The car does stay in park Never slipped Nothing just a whistle and Done on a hill. any Ideas Before I get taken for a full rebuild. I know on the older trucks I have had there's a vacume modulator or something that has gone bad and on me , and did give the appearance of a blown tranny.
I am hopping its something I can do posibly myself with out removing the whole engine. the car has 147000, I bought it brand new and this is the first major problem I ever had. so its safe to say I took pretty good care of it maint. wise
Thanks for any feed back I can receive
John

its a 2001 Pontiac grand am 4dr, 4 cyl with 148000 miles on it, my mistake I was under the impression that is why they have you all this info in your profile. I didn't realize you couldn't see it.
That's my mistake for assuming lol.

Hello ctjonb,

I have no doubt that you may get some help from other people here, but it would be much faster if you posted your question in the appropriate forum. The "Pontiac Gran Am" forum (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=385) comes to mind.

Well indeed, some time ago, there was an option to list the cars in the profile.....maybe the one directly associated with the name, but also all others of interest. I used to post all my cars + my son's cars + my brother' cars...to suggest where I could bring some insight....but all of that has disappeared in the remake of the website some time ago.....
I have complained about that before....join me.
