Alright Guys, my amp arrived tonight and i started wiring it up but it got late so I stopped, also i'm stumped on where to hook the negative cable too. i tried a tail light bolt but it didnt work, i dunno if its cuz i havent wired up my remote wire yet or not, but i wanna know where u all wired ur negative (ground) from the amp to on the body, if u have a hatch it would be ALOT of help, thanx guys
also, will it run without the remote wire? cuz not even my front speakers work when i tried installing this:confused:

i had it on my tail light nut for awhile, now i have it to where the rear seat bolts down.
It wont turn on until that remote wire is connected and it is told to turn on.

i just drilled a hole in the spare tire well and put a bolt through it and wired my ground there. Wasn't in any particular spot, just made sure it was touching metal.
And the amp won't turn on until the remote wire is hooked up. If you wanted to just test it out, you could take a small piece of wire bridge it over from your power wire, just don't leave it like that because the amp will stay on 24/7.

i used the bolt under the panel on the pssenger side for the rear shock.

I used a seat belt bolt, under the back seat. make sure you scrape the paint away from where you ground to.

does anyone have a pic of their remote wire? cuz I dunno if i need 2 buy one, or if I can just buy any wire and do that

OK frist off I would never use a factory hole for a ground......scrape off the paint of another spot and drill a new hole...but make sure that there is nothing underneath where you are drilling..
and the remote wire is an absolute nessary wire for the amp to function...it just looks like a regular wire....you should have a wire commin of the back of you deck that connects to it...:D

if you use a current bolt make sure you scratche the paint off to make a nice ground. most people forget about this and can cause problems.

yea i figured out the remote wire now, but the amp doesnt wanna work! UGH :( big piss off, so hes got 2 other lightning audios exactly alike that he's gonna bring me to try tommorow after work, also, i got even more speakers... hehe, bought 2 10's at a garage sale this morning before work, 20 bux :D
this is what my hatch looks like right now, (dont mind the wires, its a mess)

if you keep 2 boxes in your trunk like that it will sound like shit.
as for the remote wire, its usually like a 22-24 guage wire, blue, running from your deck to the amp.
for a ground spot, make sure the spot you choose is no more than a foot away from the amp, you can start to get alternator whine from distances above this. my ground i drilled a new hole and tapped it to hold a bolt and my 4 guage to. its about 5inches from my amp.
here is a shot of my install onto that lock cubby behind the front seats.

yea i know, the boxes arent stayin like that for safety reasons and to see behind the car, ("really officer i cant see out my back window and didnt know u were there") lol
but yea, the amps messed, the remote wire didnt work, i tried a wire from the power 2 the remote location and no dice, didnt work,
so my buddy has 2 other lightning audios that r the same as this one that he's gonna bring by tommorow night for me to try out, hope it all works :)

To those that ground the wire to the light nut or shock nut:biggrin2:
Those are not solid grounds. Take some sand paper and remove paint and primer from the floor of the hatch/trunk area and put a nice sized screw through with a flat washer to hold down the ground. Current will travel a hella of a lot better this way for more power. Yes i do have tests that show this theory, .5 db gain from shcok tower to the floor.

HOLY SHIT thats alot of bass without an amp!!! i was ratteling things inside the house at 1/2 volume, i took the 10s off my 12's and folded my seats down so now the 10's face me and the 12's face the hatch, pretty nice sounding but i want that damn amp!!!! lol
also, how do u hook up 4 subs to one amp? is it possible? cuz i would like 2 do that when i know of some competitions in town

EDIT: + and - on Amp is the Bridged channel
I think that is correct, please if someone thinks that is incorrect, please correct me.
Fierce, he won't be able to just plug them all into the + and - because I doubt his amp will be stable with 4 subs wired in just parallel, thus being the reasoning for me telling him on MSN to wire it up in series/parallel.

In your diagram, you have series the two boxes within in them selves. Each box sould now be 8ohms each. then you paralled the boxes together, to gain a 4ohm load at the amplifier. very good. you get a star!

ah ha!! that was my first attempt at figuring out the series/parallel thing, I remember reading a little about it before, because I didn't fully understand the reasoning behind series, but then I found out its useful when wiring a bunch of subs.
My guess is that the subs are probably 4 ohm subs, the amp is most likely 2 ohm stable. Therefore just trying to wire them in parallel would try to drop the amp down to 1 ohm, which would most likely fry the amp. Just my guess on this.

also, i got a question for you turb, why the hell are you hitting that low? 144.1 with a 2500 watt system? you should be up in the mid 150's at lest man. I had my little 120 watt system almost up to yours, and I bet my 300 watt system was really damn close. So how do you have your subs wired? No offense, I'm not tryin to start shit, I'm just curious because you should be hitting a lot harder than 144.

Good catch, but two thigns you have look at for my system.
1) Amp wired at 4 ohms so i am only using about 1000 watts.
2) NEW METER FROM TERMPRO SUCKS. The new meter that DBdrag is using is linear and tighter then hell. At SBN, it dropped everybodyise scores about 7-8 db. My score on the old termpro meter is 151.7, score from yesterday, trying new stuff.
No offense taken. Could be really bad and say i do a 168 db port wars style(mic in the port):D

why don't you have the subs wired in a parallel running at 2 ohms? If both of your subs are 4 ohm subs, it will drop it down, then you should be closer to full potential of your system.
and 91ef, yes that is a wire, but why would you not need it? I thought in a series that is how you wired them up.

You don't need a wire connecting the + and - of each sub....they are connected together inside the sub itself

Bad amps
I can't wire them down to 2 ohms only 1,4, or 8. The amp is parrel inside but it likes like a two channel amp, but only monoblock. I wish i could take it down to one ohm, cause i had directed electronis mod it for me so that it would go down to one ohm. But i was advised that the amp has 60% chance of blowing if i burp it at one ohm without 14 or more volts so i am stuck at 151 with only 1000 watts. Sounds good to me.
