Today I picked up a new project beside the VW Samba Bus.

I found this Subaru Impreza WRX from Tamiya, which is a very nice kit.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_001_%28Medium%29~27.jpg

The kit contains a lot of nice details like multipiece rearlights (which are molded in clear plastic) windowmasks and metal transfers.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/inhoud_004_%28Medium%29~25.jpg

The original wheels looks O.K. but some aftermarket wheels will fitt better
These Aoshima Enkei GTC 01 wheels will suit the car best.

The bodywork will be painted with a VW/Audi paint. This is Blue Anthracite mixed at Hiroboy.

For some extra detail, I ordered a PE set from Hobby Design.

I hope to start tomorrow.

Maybe I'll add some nice decals (just a few) or i'll just clearcoat it without decals... :)

Haha I heard that comment often
To bad there are some ghostlines in that molding, cause the plastic is a bit metallic likely.

Anyway....

Today I added some Enkei decals on the frontdoors and also added the metal transfer on the thrunk. I also added the STi decals on the foglight covers.

The wheels are also clearcoated.

The clear I used is Zero Paints 2K Clear.

Last weekend, I had a 24 hours during groupbuild.

I first started with polishing the body. After that I masked of the body, and painted the windowtrims. I think I never ever have painted them so smooth.

There was some bad light, so I couldn't make any nice pics. They are a bit to dark.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_001_%28Medium%29.jpg

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_polish_007_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also painted the windows.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_002_%28Medium%29~11.jpg

The interior got some Tamiya primer by airbrush:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_004_%28Medium%29~11.jpg

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/interieur_005_%28Medium%29~11.jpg

For the interior I used the original colors Tamiy mentioned in the instructions. Seats are a mix of xf-1 and xf-63 and the middle is painted xf-8.
The sidepanels, dash and midconsole are painted xf-63.

I used some light grey flocking, and addes some pe on the midconsole, pedals and displayconsole.

I've done some things last days.

I started painting the PE plates semigloss black. When it was dry I sanded them so the logo's will be silver. A bit of clearcoat to protect them, and then I glued them on the original plastic plateholders.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_af_001_%28Medium%29~6.jpg

I cutted out the plastic grille and replaced it with a PE version. Then I painted it semigloss black, and added the logo. I also added some PE mesh for the radiator/intercooler.

The headlights are first painted semigloss black after some liquid masking. After removing the masking I got some nice chrome areas. Now I added some glasses and did the same with the foglights. I was not sure if I must use the foglight covers, but in the end I did used them...

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_af_003_%28Medium%29~6.jpg

The body received some lights:

The hoodscoop assembled:

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/body_af_012_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

that is one clean and stunningly detailed model, sir! Perfect everything: paint, interior, choice of wheels, stance... A joy to watch!

May I have the leftover original wheels? Trade? Price?

For the interior I used tamiya acrylic paint. Maybe it will be so flat cause I used a 0.2 nozzle and needle in my airbrush for this job?

the moldlines are renoved of course, but sometimes they show up again after clearcoating the body. I dont know why, but it happends.... Nothing to do about it unless you can tell me a solution for it? It's to much work to remove the paint and start from the beginning...

that's weird, the mold line doesn't seem to appear on the prime body, it must be frustrated to see it appear after gloss coat. any recovery will take too much time, let's pretend we don't see it (actually i don't see it until it was mention)

It took a while, but I managed to do something to this model :)

I wanted to lower the rideheight, so I had to do some little modifications on the chassis. It was pretty simple to do, so after that, I could go further with the ''normal'' work.

First I did the brakes. I could chose between ventilated or normal PE discbrakes. Of course I used the ventilated :)

I also added some Brembo logos on the calipers.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/onderstel_001_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

The wheels got painted wheelnuts, and I added some decals on the wheels.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/onderstel_002_%28Medium%29~0.jpg

Now they could be glued on the chassis. I also painted the exhaust further and made nice exhausttip on the lathe of my dad. I also wheatered the chassis a bit, but it was hard to do on the smooth clearcoat.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/onderstel_008_%28Medium%29.jpg

The interior was already finished, and was glued on the chassis now.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/onderstel_011_%28Medium%29.jpg

Now everything is finished, I only have to put the body on it and wax it another time.

Kris.

Yes i can, there is a glue called Jet, this is a kind of special glue used by dentists, you can apply under and below the area that had a panel line, it will avoid retraction. Iīm not sure if you can find this product with this name, but if you want i can try to find the composition and then you can look for it or for something similar.

Please donīt take my comment as personal, i liked your model a lot, if you post it here or whatever you show it you have to be opened to receive any kind of comment.
