A4 Quattro RPM Flair on upshift

Have a 96 A4 with tons of miles, which is still a wonderful car. But lately I've noticed a slight RPM Flair when it shifts from 2-3. This happens under light throttle hot or cold. Trans works great in all other conditions.
Am obviously looking for some advice on how I might fix this without the dreaded rebuild. Is there a better fluid I could use, or might there be a way to increase the minimum line pressure a little? If I could tweak that presure just a tad, my problem might go away??
Any insight or advice would be appreciated
