How do I replace my ignition switch in my 1994 Chevy Caprice 350 5.7L V8? and does anyone know where I can get the wiring schematics for this thing too.. I'm seriously thinking about just selling it, or junking it at this point too much to handle.

Replacing the switch is fairly easy. The ignition switch is mounted on top of the steering column outer jacket tube just above the brake pedal. It is held in place by a couple screws and tangs which key it to the steering column.

The switch is actuated by a rod connected through the steering column and connected to the ignition lock cylinder.

Wiring diagrams for the basic systems can be found online at places like AutoZone or online libraries, or you can acquire a factory service manual which contains all the diagrams with the exception of a few accessory systems.

Thanks. We didn't need to replace it after all. 2 wires were melted together i'm so glad we didn't have a serious problem.. Now we need to figure out why our gages and everything only come on when the passenger door is open and the dimmer switch is on then everything will be back to normal. I just want to thank everyone who has tried to help us though. Thanks!!!
