Buying a new car, just looking for some input

So I currently drive a 1997 3000GT, and love it, but it's dyeing and sort of lacks in power, being the base model.
I have a budget of between $10,000-$13,000 and am really aiming for a sportier, RWD car that's reliable, preferably fairly new.
I've been looking at 05-06 'Stangs, but the 4.0 V6 in those model years is horrific. I've also been considering the RX-8, or perhaps a V6 honda accord coupe.
Really though, I'm just looking for input here. In 10k-13k price range, what'd be the most bang for my buck that's at least a 2004+?

Here's a few off the top of my head:
1) RX-8's are nice
2) Subaru WRX
3) Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart or Evo
4) Dodge SRT-4 (Neon or Caliber)
5) VW GTI 1.8T
6) Pontiac/Chevy with supercharged 3800 (Grand Prix GTP, Bonneville) or the '05 Impala SS w/5.3L V8 (unfortunately FWD)
7) Chrysler 300C Hemi
8) 2003-4 Infiniti G35 Coupe
9) MazdaSpeed 3 or 6.
