im replacing a worn u joint in my 98 blazer. i have the driveshaft pulled out and i have the original type plastic mold u-joints. i heated the hell out of them and had the "toothpaste looking" stuff ooze out on both sides of the yoke.
ive been wailing on them trying to get the bearing caps to break loose (120k on original u joint) and they wont break free. any tricks or something im overlooking to get these out?
i tried a socket on one side in my press and still had no luck..i didnt want to bend the yokes on the driveshaft.
also.. i bought the cheap u-joint from auto zone
they had 2 types 1 for a reg s10 blazer and 1 for a sport blazer.
she sold me the one for the sport blazer because i have a 2 door. is this correct?
i know 2 dr explorers are called sports..but is that the same with a blazer?

got em...arbor pressed them out after a long time heating them and smacking them with a hammer..ugh. the shop down the street wanted 80 bucks to take them out...i feel like i just found 80 bucks now.
also the autozone part was wrong! as usual when you buy parts there...ended up going to local parts store..cost 20 bucks but built a hell of a lot better and its the actual part!

Keep heating them.
It took two torches to get mine out.
Helped my nieghbor do his S10 pick-up the same way.

As for AZ joints, be carefull that they didn't give you the ZR2 joints (what they may call a Sport). The ZR2 joints are larger and won't fit. They gave me the Sport units because I have a 2 door Blazer, but it isn't a Sport/ZR2.
What a pain having to go back.
