2003-Water leakage problem

A problem developed over a week ago, which I thought was initially a leaking windshield. I had this problem in the past, and thought it might be the same issue. We had really bad thunderstorms, and I went to leave work. My car started but then died right away. I noticed water on the floor board and then noticed water dripping from under the dash. I ended up having water in the fuse panel as well. I let it dry out until the next day, and it started up fine. I had the windshield company come out, and they said the windshield was sealed fine, but resealed it for my own paranoia. Does anyone know what could be causing the water leakage problem? I know it's not coming from the doors because those seals and area was dry. Oh, and it's on the driver's side where it is leaking.

have you checked the heater core? if thats not the problem take a water hose and start at on area and move to yhe next wetting as lil as you can untill you can find the leak.:jerking:

I'm no car expert, but I had a similar problem with my 99 Alero. I think the person who repaired mine said it was leaking down the post (between the windshield and the door) and into my fuse box. It caused all kinds of electrical problems (car wouldn't start, would start and then die, would start and run but the gauges wouldn't work, etc...). The dealer sealed the leak and replaced the fuse box; I haven't had a problem like it since. I hope this helps.

"sbkins00" above is correct. when you lift the rubber seal, you can see where the water can run down and somehow spill into fusebox area. I discovered water after driving in the rain for many hours and discovered this is a common problem in this model. I caught it early so I was able to save the fusebox but no more leaking water after sealing the "track" below the rubber seal on driver side. Lift the seal from edge and you can clearly see the rain-track. I used clear chalking and ran the chalk under the rubber seal.

Check too under the front door where it looks like the body is in two pieces and come together. I had to put some sealant in there where they come together to stop my leaks.

Was it on the floorboard on both sides or just one side and if so which one?

Thanks everyone, I found the problem! It was where the rubber seals meet from the windshield and the inside. There was a fairly small area that was open, so my hubby and I put sealant in that area, and we did both sides for safe measure. Thank you all for the help!

I am currently in the process of buying a 2003 Alero. It has the problem of the water going over the box and floor. they had the windshield replaced, the rubber all replaced. But no luck. Well, I called my mech, he knew right away what it was. Will run around 200 or so to fix. The water is coming in from the backup of the drain tubes by the wipers. They run down the car to clear any water.. But instead of the water continuing to go through the drains have been clogged with maybe sticks, leaves, etc. He has seen the problem several times and is a constant problem on some cars. So you need to find someone to clear out the drains running down near the wipers. There is a drain that goes down each side.
Hope I helped. I was not going to buy it because of that, but amazingly, my mechanic knew right away and knew who could unclog them.
