How to test used engine?

this is a pretty simple question i guess i have a 1999 grand am..Im currently not working and have alot of time on my hands..I was gonna junk the car ..but was thinking about buying a cheap used engine form a pick and pull recycle yard....How do you test those engine? Just compression test?

bring electrical drill remove all the spark plugs and do compression test one by one spin engine with drill and socket on the crankshaft bolt, also bring oil pressure gauge mechanical spin the engine with drill again psi oil pressure should be about 50 psi at high engine rpm
