Cylinder 7 mis fire??

check engine light came on and had it tested. It said my #7 cylinder is mis firing. Any ideas on what is causing this and how do i go about looking for and fixing problem? oh 97 ford explorer v8 Thanks for any help.

Bad spark plug, plug wire or coil pack. I would fire check plug and wire first. I all ok then the coil pack. All are cheap and do the cheapest test first which is the plug and wire check/change out. If it is those two do all plugs and plug wires. Hope this helps.

I agree with Franco regarding checking the plug and wire first. If the vehicle hasn't had a tune up in quite some time, change all the plugs and wires.

The less likely items that can also cause a misfire would be fuel injectors or lack of compression. Vacuum leaks can also cause misfires but they would generally be accompanied by a lean code or codes.
