Good evening fellow modelers,
today I would like to ask you a favor: I participate in the DUNLOP livery competition (http://livery-competition.dunlop.eu/) this year. The task is to design a livery for the 2010 Aston Martin they are going to run in LeMans. There are certain design cues that have to be incorporated in the livery, the car must be easy to identify as a DUNLOP car when driving by and it sould have the potential to become "cult" like the Porsche Pink Pig or the current Flying Lizard liveries.
I received a mail from a friend if I'd like to participate in the contest. Unfortunately he sent the mail half a day before deadline! Therefore I had only 3hrs for my design. I hope you like it! Please register and vote for the livery you like most :evillol:
This is my entry...

Description:
The car was painted with a red-to-yellow faded paintjob. Twin racing stripes have been added, matching the tread pattern and faded out to the sides. The same striped have been used on the side of the car. The Dunlop logo on the door has been placed like that on purpose, to ensure that the logo is fully visible when the doors are open. Thank you for watching.
You have the chance to win a set of DUNLOP high performance tires. Please register and vote. Thank you very much in advance!

Looks awesome, great idea! But maybe not quite there yet.
When I look at it, the black pattern looks like fingerprint (or tigre stripes)- but the tyre tread connection is not very clear. I think if it could be made more clear that this is supposed to be a tyre tread pattern, you could have a winner.

Hi Andy,
thanks mate. That was exactly the intention - to create a "sort-of" tiger pattern from the tire tread / fingerprint logo. They made it very clear that the design should have the potential to be easily recognizable and easy to memorize.
Cheers

It's a good concept, and I think it is almost perfect. The tigre and fingerprint come across. But I was not able to identify that the pattern was also supposed to be tyre tread related until I saw the logo between the front/rear views. As a tyre company, I think Dunlop would probably be pleased if the pattern on the car was more easily identifiable as a tyre tread as well as tigre/fingerprint.

Your design looks better than any ita entry to me, may be a couple only are as good as your: BTW anyone is using the fingerprint concept, in a way on in another. To me a cool idea would be develop a tyre pattern that morph to the fingerprint one, from front to back. Anyway: bravo!

I like your concept VERY much, Seb
I really like the tiger associations which give it a nice creative hook into ideas of power, stealth, grace etc.
But I also have the feeling that a little tweaking to get a more immediate association with the Dunlop "feel the road fingerprint" visual would make it work even better as a piece of corporate communication.
BTW I'll take a set of decals if you ever make them up :D ;)
