my car has been overheating I changed yhe thermostat, and but my passenger fan wasnt running, it took it out and it runs when i hook it up to a battery charger but i cant figure out whart is wrong to get the fan going

problem 2: there were wires running rite to the inside of the water pump, i dont know were they hooked up at or what they are for and the they look like they have been burnt to a crisp. 1 end goes into a big harness of wires by the radiator and the other end was burnt and loose laying behind the water pump any ideas what they are. they are 3 wires and have a plastic connection hookup that was completely scroched and melted.

please thanks for any help

could you get a picture of the wires? What motor? I didn't think there were any down that way other than for the cam position sensor on the 3800. Which would trip a ses light if they weren't making connection.

it almost looks like the wires hit the belt or fan or somthing and got yanked out of somthing but i cant find were they came from have been going over it for 3 days now and the motor is the 3100. the wires are still live and that is what caught them on fire sitting in oil. dont have a camera for picks but any ideas would help

Is your SES light on? Does the code come back to a cam position sensor circuit?

Take a look down, you will need a flashlight, between the powersteering pump, and the lower intake manifold. There should be a Cam position sensor in there, securred to the block with one small bolt. I think the wires going to that may be the ones you are talking about. I don't remember exactly where they wires come from before they go to the cam sensor though.

Is that whre they went? I'm not sure how your going to be able to get in there. I've never replaced a cam position sensor on this car besides when doing LIM gaskets. May need to remove the PS Pump and just leave it connected to the lines and rest it on the fender to gain access to the sensor.

After you replace it, it may trip an SES light needing a crank/cam variation learn. In which case you may need to take it to the dealer. Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont.

Good luck.
