Question on Dodge Viper

I am building a Revell 1/25 Dodge Viper which was produced in '92 and I am lucky enough to find a '93 Japanese motor magazine as reference. When the I checked the model with the pics, the model seems to be quite accurate except the following differences:

1. a rear windshield was found in the pics which it is not supplied with the kit

2. there is a small front spoiler in the kit but not in the pics

3. there is plex cover on the front fog light in the pics but not in the kit

Is the difference due a different production year or error in the kit? Anyone can give me some advice?

I can answer your 3rd question. The plex cover on the fog light was made for the viper prototypes, it was not present on the actual production models. You see the same thing AMT's Viper GTS.

I think the rear screen goes up & down like a window.
Do you have photos of the mag so we can see the chin spolier

Thank you for your advice!

Some_kid: could it may the other way around, as the pics in the '93 magazine seems to be a production car imported by Japan?

da_ashman: retractable rear screen sounds logical, but the chin spoiler is not fitted in the pics even if it has been trimmed, cos other pics show the same.

My apologies it appears I was wrong. The 93 rt/10 does have those plex covers. Sorry about that I'm more acquainted with the 97-2002 Viper models and from my research they didn't have those covers so I assumed the same was true of the 93.

IIRC Revell based their 1st gen Viper RT/10 kit on the pre-production model that was hastily put together to become the 1991 Indy pace car. The plex light covers appears to be missing in photos of the pace car.

Thanks for all your information! I guess the model deplicts a pre-production model!
Since most of the details match that of the reference pics, maybe I should trust the effort of Revell. Afterall they claimed that Chrysler assisted them in developing the model, maybe I should stick to the kit and even leave out the rear screen. :grinyes:
