Alternator question, simple but don't know what's up.

it's a 96 gl 4 cyl. When I start my car all the light on the car are dim and everything electronic is weak. Only when I rev the engine to like 1.75 rpm do the lights go brighter and then everything starts to work properly after that rev. I think it when the power source changes from the battery to the altornator, but I need help to know what is wrong and how to fix it. If any ones please let me know, thanks.

I had the same problem in my 85 Fiero. If I can remember/find my post I'll direct you there. I believe I got the problem fixed before I sold the car.
