Crx Si cluster in DX

I picked up an 89 Si cluster to replace the one in my 88 DX with a broken fuel gauge needle. I plugged the new one up and I'm getting some odd results. The check engine light comes on, the tach does not work, the fuel and temp gauges go crazy.. moving up and down. The only thing that seems to work are the turn signal blinkers... go figure. I think I remember someone saying you had to reverse a pair of wires in the harness, but I'm not sure. Anyone got any ideas on this?

It's an 88 Crx hatchback with an 89 Crx Si hatchback cluster placed into it.

that sounds exactly like what happens when u try to put an 88-89 cluster into a 90-91 car...........well and the lights are mixed up like the turn signal light will be the seatbelt light or something crazy like that.

The two are a little different, the Si cluster temp and fuel gagues are farther apart with shorter needles. There is also some kind of light between these two gauges that wasn't on my original cluster. The speedometer appears a little smaller to compensate for the additional space between the fuel and temp.
