Changing tranny fluid

I have a 94 caprice with a 5.7L and a rebuilt tranny a few yrs ago. Fluid is starting to turn brown so i am going to change it. Any suggestions on what fluid to put in. I know i am running Dexron 3 right now and i have seen people talking about Dexron 4 and synthetics. Car is not a daily driver, has a few aftermarket parts such as exhaust and intake, tranny was rebuilt heavy duty with a mild shift kit and will chirp when shifting into 2nd. Bottom line is i like to get on it and would like it to last. Which fluid should i use?

the use of dexronVI is what is the recommended fluid ...GM stopped the dexron III because of excessive tranny failures ..../ with vehicles under warrantee ...you should remove all of the dexron III...replace fluid 3X IS BEST ....

since this was a modified tranny , not OEM check with the rebuilder if the parts installed are compatible with dexronVI....

The place that did it either moved or went out of business. Any reason the parts wouldnt be compatable to Dexron VI? Is 3X a name brand or are you saying replace the fluid 3 times?

X = times ...so compare old fluid to new and if it is bad replace 3X.

I use mobil synthetic in my 4l60 transmissions that are OEM original ...both vehicles since nov 1995 have performed perfectly no repairs ...fluid should be replaced at the 30,ooomi point ...this should be before the fluid begins to go bad and debris is still low...the filter will keep failures down by reducing particles that wear out the valves....the fluid getting acidic will cause leakages....

the new dexron VI fluid is a synthetic blend ....mobil tranny fluid I use is full synthetic ...

Which fluid should i use?
