ABS light came on the other day; I can’t get the truck to my mechanic until next week. Brakes seem to be fine. Are there any quick physical checks I can do to see what the problem may be?

An ABS capable scan tool is necessary to retrieve the DTC's and diagnose the problem.

you can look at the back side of the wheels and see if you can see the tone ring for abs they split and can throw a light

Check the ABS wires and make sure they are not cut. mine did that. It is on the front side of the control arm and is connected inside the control arm with a small bolt. It is only about a foot long until the plug so you can check it easy. Next make sure you dont have any garbage that is up by the sensor its self. I also had a nice ball of string that got stuck infront of my sensor. You can also shoot some brake cleaner on the abs sensor to clean any dirt off. The abs lite will come on when it does not detect a signal from the rotor, so it thinks that the brakes are locked up. Most of the time it is a cut/bad wire or sensor or just a dirty sensor that cant read the rotor.

Hey thanks guys. Gonna check behind the wheels later today will report back. I was thinking a broken wire to a sensor as well. Tell ya what I find or what I don't
