2001 sonoma secondary air injection malfunction

hi i have a 2001 sonoma its got about 251000 km and the engine light has came on twice i put my code reader on and both times its been secondary air injection malfunction, ive lookede into it abit and it sounds like i gotta change the air pump and hoses??? is that right or could it be something else???

the pump is prob going. just happened to a friend of mine on an 01 jimmy.

ok so it just happened so it couldnt have froze and blown the fuse, it must just have gotten water into it and started to corrode ???
i read that other forums and it sounds like ill have to change the pump and the exhause check valves is that right wat does it take to change the check valves

Pair of pliers. look on the exhaust manifold one on each side of the block. you will see a hose that connects to it. It connects on the front of it. Follow the hose and you will find a metal object that looks kinda like a bell. That is the valve. The are like $80 each though. Some people say you can use compressed air to clean them out but I don't know about that.

i found em for 25 a pieceand i looked and i only saw one on the drivers side manifold??? i had better look closer

also are the pumps rebuildable? i work at a machine shop and could prolly build it up and machine it wood that work the same as a new pump?

That I am not sure of. You may find the second valve under the front of the truck just below or behind the radiator. Also you will prolly need to reset the code to make the check engine go out

well what exactly triggers that sensor? is it becuse they dont pump enough air or wat? if thats it depending on the material i dont see y not about rebiulding it
