Re: power steering noise
Ford (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=450965#) F150 Pickup. I had a power steering pressure hose leak and had it replaced and the pump and now have no more leaks. The other reason I replaced the pump was because I thought maybe it was the reason for the noise when the steering wheel is turned completely to the left and to the right, while driving (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=450965#) and while in Park. It is not as loud during turning, but it is extremely loud when you get to the end of the turn and keep pressing to the left, or right, whichever end (direction) you have turned to. It sounds like metal scraping against metal (or maybe the same pisz noise daven8 describes). My Olds Bravada has the same sound but it is extremely faint. This F150 Ford noise is extremely loud and nasty.

??Maybe this is what is causing the noise??
I have attached 6 images of what might be a broken part, or is this the way it is supposed to look? I don't know the name of the part (I know next to nothing about identifying mechanical parts, so don't laugh at me, it's just a thought) but it looks broke open to me. As you can see, it is below and just to the right of the oil filter.

The images are viewed from under the front of the vehicle and the parts are on the drivers side under the power steering reservoir. That's the power steering pressure hose below the orange oil filter and above what I think is the broken part.

The part in the picture appears to be a plastic shield on the steering shaft. Probably not the noise you describe. Maybe check the dust shields for the brake rotors.

You're right on about the plastic shield. And also correct about that not being the cause of the noise. I'm still working on figuring it out. Thanks for the response.

I know on my 92 that not all the time but generally when I turn the wheel hard in either direction you can hear the engine fan hitting on the shroud. I dont know exactly why it does it but it does. something in the front end is loose causing the shroud to shift over into the engine. as soon as i straighten out the wheels it stops. and mine does it whether im moving or not. just throwing that out there. maybe youd recognize the noise
