hatch all the way :D
but I would say if I had to narrow em down to 3 Id choose the 98 GS-T(try fining GSX, not much more $$$ I dont think)
the GSR or the hatch, but Id like to have em all too if I could.
but with a hatch, I found a 5th gen lowered with rims, exhaust, and a ZC swap for 2 G's, then you might have more than 7500 evewn, but that could build one hell of a CRVTEC or turbo B16 or something.

well, it kinda depends on what the money is put into. but from what it looks like, i would choose the hatch w/7.5k put into it. almost always, the car w/the most money put into it is the fastest. IE, 25K car w/5 k put into it vs the 5k car w/25k put into it. the second will almost always win.
if i had to pick 3, i would pick the 240sx, gst and the 96 hatch. as teg said, try to find the GSX. they're a bit more rare, but AWD, droooool. reason i say 240sx is cuz of RWD (you get the keep the opportunity for drifting heh heh heh). also, it looks like a fair amount of money was put into it, and i'm GUESSING that a nice chunk of it was put into suspension.
BUT, buyer beware, cars that have alot of money put into them are usually driven harder. i'm sure there are exceptions, but wouldn't you like to hit redline more if you were about to sell your modded car?
my 2 cents. hope it helps!

oh,I was taking the choices as if he ws going to buy it and have that much left to put into it, not it already had that much money into it. but I got mine so cheap cuz the ZC wasnt running, ghe bought it form an engine dealer and couldnt get the distributor wired up and then went to the military so I got it cheap, and got it running for free by just looking around the web for wiring diagrams

I would say 240sx. Shit if u gonna dump 5g's in it you'll have a 12 sec car. Throw in a sr20det with upgraded fuel and intercooler. Boost controller all that good stuff!:)

Well since you want a reliable car go with one of the Honda's. I would say the 97 GSR. But the 99 SI is a sweet ride too. GSR's get quick real fast with money in them, and still stay reliable.

I would go with the RX-7, cause of it's high stock HP. But I wouldn't recommend it for fuel economy it eats gas like crazy...
The Eclipse would be good but throwing in a thousand more you could get the GSX AWD version that would be great.
And about the money your planning to put on the Civic Si it's 5000 right?
I think you had a typo there :p

All you guys saying a GSX is better than a GST are wrong. First of all, the AWD system soaks up so much HP that the advantage you receive off the line is going to burn you in the end. And second of all the AWD systems gives worse gas mileage-also makes the car heavier. And lastly, the tranfer case in the AWD is prone to locking up due to insufficient lubrication, there has been many recalls on this very thing.
