1977 K10 4WD - Wheel Bolt Pattern / Tire Size / 4WD Shifter

Hi All,

I've got two separate questions.

I was getting ready to buy some tires for my truck when I noticed that the tires were 35/12/6. From what I understand, the standard wheel size for this model is 15".

For the sake of fuel efficiency, I want to get some regular street tires for everyday driving. But I am having difficulty trying to figure out which other tires may fit.

The other option I have is to buy a used set of wheels and tires but I do not know the bolt pattern.

Any ideas or sources where I can look this up?


My second question is about the 4wd feature. What is the proper method of shifting into 4wd? I tried using the shifter but its doesnt even budge. Am I doing somethign wrong?

On the shifter make sure shift linkage is not rusted up.
Shifter also has to be pushed sideways to to shift it.

A good tire shop should be able to help you with tires for it.

I guess I should add that this is my first 4wd ride so I dont know what I am doing. Does the transmission need to be in a certain gear before the transfer case can be engaged (heck, is that even the proper way to say it?)?

I had the truck in Park, Drive, L2, and L1 while I tried the shifter again, trying to push it side ways but nothing seemed to happen.

I will try the shift linkage next.

I always to put transmission in neutral and let the truck roll a little.
But if you can not move the transfer case shift lever it if most likely froze up.

From under side unhook shift rods and see if you can shift transfer case levers.
If so your shifter if stuck.
Spray some skunk juice/penetrating oil in it and see if it will move.
If not remove it and free it up.
