A strange sound

Hey guys. This isn't a serious problem rather an annoying one.
I have this annoying sound coming from the front drivers wheel area.

The best I can describe it is every time I start the car in the morning to bring the wife to work I turn left out of my driveway and I hear what sounds like a ratchet socket rattling around in the fender.

I only hear this sound when the car makes a left turn out of my driveway. And then only first thing in the morning.

Could this just be from my spring and strut settling overnight? If there is in fact a tool lost in there somewhere I"m not worried about it.It would just be nice to know what the heck that sound is.Lol

Hmm... could be a bad CV joint. Check the boots on that side and make sure they aren't torn.

No.It's not a cv joint.I know what they sound like and they always give off a clicking kinda sound. This sounds different than that.

I forgot to mention the road I live on and my driveway are gravel and dirt.I"m not sure if this has any bearing on it or not.Perhaps the bumpiness of the road is taxing my suspension?I know it goes away when I get onto a paved road.

Could my upper/lower ball joints needs to be greased?

Air pump?I have no idea if I have one and where it would be or what it would be for.And i only hear this sound for a few seconds then it stops.

I have the same thing- Dealer said it was the anti-lock brake system re-setting??? Hasn't caused a problem.

The ABS system does perform a self test, it doesnt usually do it until you exceed around 5mph or so.

On mine it makes the same sound as when my ABS engages during heavy braking...which to me is sort of grinding/low pitched hum sort of sound.

When you say the anti locking brakes resetting exactly what does that mean?Is the caliper opening or something?

From my understand the system performs a self test, to make sure all the components are doing their thing correctly. Which to me is why it sounds the same as when the ABS is actually engaging.

I know a couple times when I've had wheel speed sensor issues, the lights don't come on as soon as I turn the car on, but once I start moving above a certain speed (very low, like 3-5 mph) they would.

Have you ever been on the brakes hard enough to hear what the ABS system sounds like?

I was told that the sound was coming from a box under the hood on the drivers side & it was electronically resetting. Mine sounds like a hard rattle or like you said- something rolling around in the fender area. After the post from littlehoov, it is after I back out of the drive way then start going forward while turning left. I don't think you could hear the calipers moving.

I've only ever hit the brakes really hard once.It was at night and I was driving into a town i'm not familiar with and didn't know about a sharp turn ahead and had to hit the brakes from a speed of about 65 down to 30 in about 2 seconds...lol.

I don't recall hearing any "ABS Sound" when I did that.889598.I know the box your referring to.It's mounted to the drivers side strut tower. There is also a module inside the air box but I'm not sure what that one is.

On my other post about the bouncing I did notice when I put the spare tire on to see if it was my tire causing the bouncing i did notice that rattling sound wasn't as bad.Maybe the messed up tire is putting strain on my control arms and bushings?

What i can suggest here, you have to bring it to the expert. Definitely will be fixed and aside from that they will provide you a good tips on how to maintain it properly. Good luck.
