Things to check that are due shortly: AC Delco plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, oxygen sensors, check fuel pressure and leakdown, tire pressure, wheel alignment... all of these affect fuel mileage.

the most to expect with a tahoe on the hwy only@ 70mph is 17mpg....
around town short trips 14 mpg is average ...
13 mpg is not that bad ...with plugs/air filter / maf cleaning with CRC MAF cleaner /also throttle body cleaning you should see better mpg and throttle response...
the upstream O2 sensors are in need of replacement at around 100,ooomi...though many go well beyond this mileage ..the risk is damage to the cat converters ...
measure the wire resistance to the plugs when changing and use dielectric grease on the boot ends...if they have never been replaced you will need a plug wire puller to get them off , or risk damaging the plug wires ...dielectric grease prevents core from damage..
only use ac delco plugs this engine is picky on plugs / delphi wires if needed ...

Installing a colder thermostat will cause the ECM to richen up the injectors, decreasing fuel mileage. Colder plugs will foul, decreasing fuel mileage. Cold air intake is a total waste of money, unless you like the looks of them. Modifying the exhaust will do very little, if anything. Removing the converters: number one, it's illegal, number two, it will cause the SES light to come on. Basically yes, you're asking for problems. A good tune up using AC Delco parts is your best bet.

where are you getting these crazy ideas ? this is one vehicle not to screw with ...the computer/pcm is very very picky ...any changes cause damage and more problems ...use the exact correct parts only ....or expect damage to your vehicle ..
