My mom and I were heading down the Berlin turnpike when a Mini S passes by us. I think he was doing around 65-70 because we were going about 55 and he passed us pretty fast. Well I watched him weave in and out of traffic when I noticed a late 80s Chrysler 4door car start to pace him but, I wasn't sure because the light ahead turned red. So my mom was just as interested to see what would happen as I was so we pulled up behind them. I didn’t hear any revving but they where looking back and forth at each other. Then the light turned green, the blue Chrysler on the left spun his tires but, the Mini S on the right just jumped off the line with a quick chirp. As they went the Mini just kept pulling away I’m not sure how fast they were going but we where doing 65 and the Mini was pulling way ahead with the Chrysler a good 1sec or 2 behind. The next light ahead turns red and to my surprise they line up again only this time a new Corolla S lines up to. We pull up behind again and the light turns green, again no spin from the mini but, a little from the Chrysler and the Corolla S the Mini takes the clear lead again and keeps pulling. So as this is all happening I realize my mom has joined in too:eek: we pass the Chrysler by 50 and are even with the Corolla S at 60 and pulling. O we were in our E300 2.8 Mercedes by the way. So we have a car and a half by 70 on the Corolla and still pulling strong. We weren't gunned but we were close to it the Mini was a ways ahead and again he caught another light. This time we were next to him but it was our turn and my mom said she didn’t want to be late. I think it would have been a good race though see as we were faster than the other to he raced but maybe some other time. All in all I was impressed by the Mini S and it was cool that my mom raced to. Sorry it was kind of long

Go Mini GO:D

Dude, I just wish my mom could be that cool occasionally. I'm grown and out of the house, and she still gave me shit for buying my car... "Why do you need 240 horsepower??"

WHY NOT?!

DUDE you have an awsome mom!!! i mean my moms cool but doesnt do 10 above the speed limit..., damn could you imagine a mom in a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am WS6, actually now that i think about it its probobly better shes not like that, if she was she'd probobly be a cripple or something and the WS6 would be gone, its bad enough she takes bad care of it...

My mom used to race her mustang GT against other muscle cars and win alot! anyways, according to automotive critics people would rather drive a Mini than a S2000!

ahhhh I can see the new thread subject heading now..."best kills with parental unit on board". I remember when I was 13 when my dad had a '97 mustang GT and he raced an older generation GT from a stoplight in downtown LA......scared the hell out of me....but I was hooked!

Well, I think I've told you guys the story of my Dad rolling his first GLH Omni in a race against a Porsche 928S4, and that he and my grandpa on my mom's side used to run the sportscar scene over at Nickel Plate Diagonal road. But they're not the only car nuts in my family. My grandpa on my dad's side used to tinker around with a 1969 Dodge Dart whose slant-six he'd welded up a custom 3 two-barrel Weber intake manifold and bundle-of-snakes header, plus bigger Charger sway bars and Barracuda rear leaf springs. (Dad took that one over a railroad crossing at 120, caught air, and came down so hard he bent the front subframe). And then there's my great-grandma. Her ride back in the 1960's was a 1932 Ford A-V8 roadster with Offenhauser heads, dual Strombergs, and headers with lakes pipes. I kid you not! Grandpa and his brothers built it for her!
