Hey, from doing some investigating around the pages here I have been having a problem with my car a 95 lumina ls 3.1 98,000 mi when it gets up to operating temp it shifts very hard from first to second and then has no power either. It just got within the last year fuel pump, filter, wires, plugs were good new intake gasket and all the updates for the motor. when it shifts that it seems that the torque converter locks up too soon (if that makes sense). So I was wondering where I could find this solenoid and if you all think I am right.

Thanks

The TCC solenoid is inside the side pan on the transmission. The transaxle needs to be removed to access it.

Your description sounds like the hydraulic pressure of the transmission is too high. This line pressure is controlled by the transmission oil pump, governor, and pressure modulator. The modulator is controlled by engine vacuum. With no vacuum applied the transmission will operate a full line pressure and cause very hard shifts.

Make sure the vacuum line from the intake is intact and connected to the modulator on the front of the transmission. There is usually a short piece of hose connected to a metal line routed downward to the modulator, then another short piece of hose connecting the metal line toe the modulator. Make sure both the hoses and the metal line are not damaged.
