Torubleshooting - holes in paint + other

Hi all,
i've looked at the FAQS but can't find an answer to my questions so i think some of you may be able to help. Last nite I've painted my model using some automotive spray paint (some sort of dark metallic blue colour) but i noticed a couple of problems ..

1. There are some tiny holes in the paint.. is it because the distance is too close or i didn't move fast enough as i notice the paint is quite thick around that area as well..

2. Some part of the paint has a much lighter colour than the rest (mostly around the edges).. it sorted of look like there is a small mist of fog/snow covering that. i remember i have similar problem before but it seems to be more serious this time.. what is causing this?

3. if i spray a large number of very light coats, without a wet coat to finish it, will the final result be ok or will it be very rough ?

cheers,
Richard

yes, i key the body, painted it using primer (2 layer), leave it for 1 day, wet sanded it using 1000 sandpaper. then paint it.
is that i didn't leave it long enough?

1.) You might have sprayed on too much at once, the holes might be caused by lacquer gas trying to escape through the thick paint.

2.) Same as above, too much paint causes the paint to 'run' from the edges and thin areas of the model

3.) No experience :)

Does your paint job look like it has been oversprayed?

If it isn't maybe you should sand down abit with a fine grit until the holes go away and repaint.

Are you working with resin? Some times resin has holes in them and they have to be filled with putty or something.

In 1 of my sas body kits there were a few holes. First I thought it was paint but when I sanded down to the resing and looked closely there were holes in the resin. :lol2:

Good luck

yes the area with holes look like has been oversprayed .. so i guess this is the reason ?

but i still don't understand why some area looks like there is a snow mist on it as those area doesn't look like oversprayed to me (point 2)? There is no visible runs, the paint looks pretty smooth and normal to me except the colour is lighter (looks a bit white/frozen)

I know, you said it looks darker around the edges right.

I think you're working with paint that gets darker with the more coats you put. I've only used one color like that and it was telefonica blue.

There are many other colors like that.

I guess you have to practice. Try to spray in even coats so that the paint job's paint shade is all even.
