94 CK 1500 uncommanded wiper during acceleration

Kinda a weird one, but my wipers go off on their own when accelerating heavily, under normal acceleration no problem. I've seen a lot of posts stating problems with the boards, but I'd like to have some input before buying something I don't need. :runaround:

wiper control module has a relay that does not last forever...the control board will need replacing...I just did this on a S10 pick up 1994 ...only had high speed wipers ,,,contacts on the relay that gives the delay slow speed was worn out ...just give it some time eventually it will stop working and you will have only high speed ...

It is possible that grounding the wiper motor assy may be a factor so add a ground wire to this as the OEM ground straps vaporize over time...

this is so common all the stores I called had many in stock ..covers many yrs of these vehicles ...

Thanks for the advice. I've been watching to see if anyone else had anything else to add, but I'll head to the parts store today...

I've got a c6500 that does the same thing. Light load no problem, but when it get's warm and going up hills, the wipers go intermittent - never off. Replaced the board, and whamo! Good to go.

I replaced the wiper module yesterday and had no problems with it today. It was a good fix and I appreciate the input as I was really dreading chasing down a wiring problem.

Thanks ya'll.....

Hey
About your wiper "board", I have a 96 1/2 ton, 5.7, and mine would
stop when I really needed them, and like yours, work when they wanted to!

After I changed mine, and of coarse lost the receipt, GM had a re-call
on the wiper control board.

Look it up, you may be able to get your money back for your purchase.

Have a good day,
Rob

ya right,
I get alot of good advice an info from these forums, and when I can be
helpfull an HONEST............I try to help.
And thats all I ask in return.

ya right,
I just replaced mine about 6 months, and a guy where I work drives a
95 chevy truck, he called our local GM Dealer, all he had to do was drive it there, 20 minutes later, WOW it was replaced...........no charge.

A re-call is a re-call, and more so when it could put you or yours life in harm.

ya right,
I think it would be worth a try to most, but you..........don't bother!

Whoa everyone. My problem is fixed and if there was a recall I'm well out of any effective period. Truck is 16.5 years old with 203,000 miles on the original motor and transmission....and knock on wood....no rebuilds.

The wiper in question was replaced 8 years ago to date for some other problem I can't remember, so it's no longer OEM anyway.

The new control module was $30 so no big deal. I just hope someone else will be able to correct their problem from my postings.

Hey all
If you ever need to look up an old or new recall, and they will still fix an old one, just one time, look at this web site: www.nhtsa.dot.gov (http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov)
I hope this helps others, and did not mean to ruffle any feathers!!

These forums is to help each other out in the time of need. And they
have really helped me.
Have a nice day

02054A - Special Policy Adjustment - Windshield Wiper Motor Failures

1994-1997 C/K Pickup, Tahoe, Suburban

When I got my 1994 GMC Suburban in 2000, it had this wiper issue. I found out about the recall, and called two GMC dealers. They said even though the recall was for 1994-1997, my VIN was NOT in the recall, even though I had the same wiper issues as the recall, wouldn't do anything for me. So guess - in round numbers - like a big zero - how many times I've ever visted the dealer. Yes: zero.

I found a fix on the internet to re-solder bad circuit board joints, bad design. GM wanted to make money from me for their poor design....
