Hello everyone I am new here and I have a few questions regarding an engine swap. Now I have read some post on here and I still have well tons of questions. So here they go. If I want to put a 383 which is a bored out 350 into my 2006 regular cab wt model to make it a sleeper would it cost over twelve thousand and would it be street legal. I live in Texas, and as much as I have tried I can not find any law dealing with displacement and things like that. I want my little red truck to haul butt but would like to keep it legal while making about four hundred horse power. I found a race model 383 new for six thousand that has a carb. on it, however I would like to keep the EFI to ensure that it would pass emissions in the first try. If anyone could help me please anything including bad news would be helpful. Thanks

I would go to an emission testing facility in your area . ask what is expected when they test..with a 2006 model and your choice of engine, the testing interface may reject your vehicle ..
perhaps with your ability to spend several thousand dollars you could get a newer 6.2L engine and modifiy that engine to work correctly, with the PCM reprogramed ,to get the 400 HP.

Buy a 6.0 out of a junk yard and bore it out. I would definatly go with a gen 3 motor.
