How to Get DTC's for 1998 Sebring Convertible?

My kids are grown up now and I just retired my '96 Grand Caravan LE with 301,000+ miles on it. Nice thing about the GC: it was easy to get DTCs by turning the key three times and counting how many times the Check Engine light would flash - helped me identify and fix many problems over the past 14 years.

Here's the thing... I just bought a 1998 Sebring Convertible JXi with 133,000 on it. The 3-key thing doesn't work to get DTCs - is there another way to get codes without going to Advance Auto and using their scan tool?
