I have a 2001 Grand Prix, 3100 engine. Today was the first time i needed A/C and nothing. It worked last summer. It has dual climate control and I noticed that the passenger side air is cooler than the driver side. Now let me iterate that the air is not cool but warm, there is just a slight temperature differance between both sides. When I change the temp. from cold to hot I do hear the change as in the "blend door" is operating and the temp. goes to hot. Any Ideas? Thanks Pablo

Hi Pablo,
Sounds to me like you have low refrigerant. Might have a leak in the system. A common point for leaks are comepressor shaft seals. Look down near the compressor and see if there is blackish oil around the pulley (leak).

I agree with Tim, sounds like low refrigerant to me as well. Since your car has a variable orifice compressor, I would suggest taking it to a qualified A/C repair facility, unless you have access to a set of gauges and know what you're doing.

If you can check the pressure of the freon. Depending what the air temperature the freon pressure will be higher with the air temperature that is higher. If you want to check the freon pressure, harbor freight has the gages for R134 freon. If not take it to a place that does the ac for the cars. As recommended by Rich. That is where my compressor failed also.
