clutch problems

ok i have a 98 eclipse spyder gs 2.4L
my clutch is slipping when i apply enough preasure to go faster then my grandmother. once i get going its better but by only a little bit. i checked the clutch fluid last week and noticed it was empty, which i know thats not good, so i check as much of it as i could to make sure i had no leaks and filled it back up. i check it every day and its the level is the same, no leaking. i know i need to bleed the line to get the air out. could this be any of the cause of the clutch slipping? or do i need a new clutch?

Clutch fluid only effects the clutch releasing. If the clutch is slipping then you will need a new one

Thanks! I wasn't sure but I thought it had nothing to do with it.
After reading some I found another question I should ask. Can engine oil leak into the clutch causing it to slip? And if so how do I check for that?
Also I read about a clutch adjustment, what is this exactly?

Yes engine oil can leak out the rear main seal causing clutch slipping problems. There may be an inspection plate on that tranny somewhere, check where the block and tranny bolt up, if you see oil in the bellhousing its the rear main seal. But if the clutch has over 100k its probably just time for a new one. The master cylinder does have some adjustment to it but you only use this on new clutches to adjust the engagement point.

Yes there is an inspection cover under the car. But sounds like you need a new clutch regardless whether the engine is leaking oil or not. While you have the transmission out it will be a very good idea to replace the engine rear main seal.
