It’s lunch time on a Friday and according to the handy dandy blackberry in my hand it’s 55 and clear. I open the door to my dark room and the sunny weather is just beckoning me to go outside. I oblige my inner child and go out to play in the sunlight.

I approach the Cobalt and with the touch of the FOB the lights flash and the door unlocks. The car starts with a purr from the GM Touring exhaust. I open all windows so the fresh air can swirl around and bathe the inside. The sunroof is opened too to allow the sun to shine down and kiss the interior.

I grab my Oakleys and with a swift pass of my hand the bright sun is muted and the path is clear. I don my UT cap to protect my thinning head and with graceful ease exit the parking space. This is gonna be a fun drive today.

I take the route that brings me down the bypass and up to the hiway, a nice three mile jaunt of open road along the outskirts of the city. I wait patiently with the other cars at the entrance to the bypass.

The traffic begins to move and I slice thru it effortlessly reaching the front of the line. I scan the horizon for the elusive blue and red kryptonite that stops cars in their tracks. Satisfied all is clear I extend my distance between myself and the rest of the pack. The corner of my eye catches a dark object moving behind me and closing in. With a closer look I see the blue and white propellers of the Bavarian Motor Works.

The end of the bypass is near and beyond that the hiway onto the Iowa country side. I slow down and allow the bimmer to pass so I can gauge its intent and class. It’s sleek design and glossy black finish makes this 5 series sedan with its personalized UI plates stand out in a crowd. The operator looks to be the son of a white collar worker out on an errand for daddy or this young go getter had somehow managed to get the keys to the boss’s car.

We sit side by side at the light and to my disbelief I hear the sound of his engine roar. Are you kidding??.. lol… Revving the engine at a stop light…. In a BMW? Must be the spring time air, I laughed and rev’d my engine back just for giggles.

From this light there is an immediate left hand turn to the hiway with a two lane onramp that narrows to one lane after maybe a half mile, I should measure it to make sure, anyway, the light turns green, I figure just to fair, I won’t sling shot my way out. Once we complete the turn I hear his 290HP/324lbs of torque V8 engine come to life, to reciprocate I let the banshee out of the cage and scream right along side. He has about ¾ car lead at the initial jump till about 4k rpm when this little car begins to reel in this big fish. I know he can hear the supercharger be cause he turns to look my way as I pass. I turn to him and give him a big toothy smile, or maybe a shit eating grin, not sure which one to call it. I easily makes the pass and by the shift to third my nose was up front and slowly putting that bimmer in the rear view mirror. I watch as he slides in behind me, the bimmer somehow looked sad as it settled in staring at the back end of a Chevy.

I approach the exit to the post office and the bimmer follows me thru. I pull to the right hand lane and he stays in the left. At the stop light I wait for his approach, I see disbelief in the eyes of the driver as he pulls up next to me, I tip my hat to him and make my turn happy to have notched another bimmer in my belt………

Lol UTD win. At least it ain't the horns. Best friend is an Aggie, long time female friend is a Red Raider, and I was about to go to TCU, so not a fan of the Longhorns.
