Hello,
My remote just stopped working for no reason (changing the remote's battery does not help), could the remote programming described for the 98-04 models fix this?
Thanks

Here is the instructions from my 2006 SV6 manual. Might be the same.
After replacing the battery, press & hold the Lock & Unlock buttons for 7 seconds to syncronize the transmitter. Check the transmitter operation.

Did you try reprogramming the van as if you just got the remote? There should be a section in the owner's manual about adding a new remote.

according to a mechanic I spoke to this week, the remote is supposed to be dead and needs to be replaced, I find this really weird, are american cars that fragile? I mean, I also have an ABS problem and this will be the second since december.
so if I get a brand new remote from a GM dealer, I'm looking at a ~$250, and if I get a used remote (not sure if it's worth it considering the possibility for the used remote to die soon) it will be around $25+ and then I will have to try to program it myself not sure if it can fail and damage something.

Some places like Advance auto parts have a tester at the front cash register. You press your remote and a led will flash if the remote is transmitting.

No buttons work at all? You can get another one off of ebay.
