checking out a 2000 328i any tips?

We are checking out a 2000 328i with around 60k miles. I wonder if there's anything specific that we have to pay more attention ?

I'm doing the same thing...only the car I'm looking at only has 24,000 miles on it. I'm interested in this thread too....no one seems to be saying anything though.

If this would interest you, I have a '99 323i ( a few horses less than the 328) purchased in late '98, 5spd w/ only sports pkg as an option. Now at 73,000+ miles, 'changed 4 tires at 45K, one front brake pad passenger side @ 55K, and one headlight bulb. Oil changed every 15K (that's once a year). No other major maintenance done. Of course, I'm down to 2K (service interval) for next scheduled service (fingers crossed). My 3 still packs a bullet, not a single engine whine and continues to hug the road like a leech... still amazes me in turns. My only qualm ... not a gripper on a snowy road uphill. But how often does it snow in NYC? Comfy and reassuring for it's size but best of all... FUN FUN FUN and very FASSSSTT!! With more horses in the 328??

Nothing major to look for... but I'd check a particular car's history (not the make). Good luck and join the fun.:sun:

I currently have a 2000 328i with about 50k miles, driven in So Cal. As we have close to the worst roads in the nation, I have gone through 3 tires due to road damage, and am now getting ready to replace all 4 tires again. I have the sports package.

Notes:
1. Check engine light off and on for about a year and stayed on. Turned out that a sensor on one of the exhaust cams was going bad. Replaced under warranty.
2. SRS light on at 44k. Turned out that a sensor in the front passenger seat belt went bad. Replaced under warranty.
3. Oil service at 7500k (I plan to keep the car and I'm sorry...I don't buy the 15K service interval from BMW...more changes can't hurt).
4. Numerous bulbs burn out (headlight, tail lights) but are easy to change.
5. Driver window motor replaced at 45k.
6. Moonroof occasionally sticks (recall notice on this is issued).

If this is a BMW preowned-certified car, definetly get the extended warranty. Otherwise really get it checked out. Also, you fail to mention if this is an automatic...most BMW mags say the automatics are good for 90k to about 120k.
