This question was asked to me at work and want as many opions as possible and most of all from you FL guys.

What if a Honda dealership started doing preformance parts and imported JDM parts? Would this be a thing the general public would be interested? I just want ya'll opions.

I don't think that people here exactly count as the general public when it comes to performance parts, but I know I would be interested in getting new JDM parts from a dealer.

Okay not general public but more towards to the younger crowds. Bad wording, im sorry. General public as in you can come in and ask for some JDM headlights for your civic and we order them right then.

i would say NO because if they do they will charge an arm and a leg for the stuff, like they already do!

It would be nice to have something similar to TRD but for Honda. But really only if you had a new Honda. Iam pretty sure our cars no longer carry a warranty. And like they said before JDM parts are expensive enough already.

thats what i was thinking... these parts are already expensive enough... before the dealers get ahold of them... if they would do it reasonably yeah, but we all know how the dealers are...

This doesnt even apply just to honda dealers.

On 2003 corollas, there is currently a problem with a rotten egg smell inside the car. Rather than replace the cat, the dealers are ducking and dodging and trying to blame it on the gasoline the customer uses

On pnut420's 01 Sonoma, he kept blowin o2 sensors causing the service engine soon light to some on all the time. The dealer, rather then try to fix the real problem, kept replacing o2 sensors and tried to blame it on his stereo, and his exhaust pipe that he cut off right after the muffler cause it was melting his brake line. Later it was determined that the ground on his truck was faulty.

The local honda dealership charged me $17.09 for 2 TINY lightbulbs for behind the instrument panel. I could imagine what they would charge for imported JDM stuff.

I say no thank you sir! :finger: to dealerships.

i think they should do it, but if they jacked the price of em, it wouldnt be worth it, it'd be much easier to get some JDM stuff from a dealership rather than to scour the earth to find a parts dealer.

That would be Mugen. I would say yes if it was Mugen since toyota got trd and nissan is gonna come out with NISMO ...maybe.

I agree that all the crap would be hella expensive, plus if the honda dealership is buyin up the jdm crap, then there's none left for me unless i buy from them, creating a monopoly (kinda anyways). Now mugen and spoon parts would be cool, just because if honda got em, other ppl would, but mugen isnt jdm it's j-spec, jdm would be stock japanese stuff, like oem, and j-spec is wat people in japan want. Hope this doesnt start an argument, cuz im not tryin to be difficult, just that when i know something I like to share :D

you just confused the shit out of me... but anyway. *uck the dealerships. their a bunch of scumbags who love reaching into our pockets and scavange any little bit they can. lets keep doing our thing and disreguard any idea of getting jdm products from the dealers:devil:

id also say no, cuz dealershipz like u all said, ask too much for their $hit and just like they are starting to do with altezza lights on lexus' and other cars, they'll take away the fun of building and customizing carz. Cuz they'll be easier to get ahold of, more and more people will start doing this, .. its kinda like, when someone who buyz a badass car, and brags about it, like as if they built it,and it was all them, and know somin bout cars. Im not sure if im making sense. . but i think they shouldnt do tha idea.

funny thing is last time I was at the Hopkins in fairfield CA, they had powered by acura windshield banners and altezzas, and I think I even saw some washer leds ... :bloated:

oh well, if the dealer sells it, it must be legal :hehe:

I think that it would be cool to have dealers get JDM stuff, and sell it in America, BUT there are two things that are going to suck about it...

1.)Price. Most of you already said this... it is going to be a arm and a leg...x2.

2.)Everyone that owns a Honda will be getting these "JDM parts" thinking that they are all cool and shit. It will get played out, and everyone will start to not like the JDM look anymore. Kinda like the "Fast and the Fruious effect". :)

if the price was good then yes it would be a good idea, but that would never happen:(

prices are mad here as it is for EDM parts let alone JDM !!!!

they'll never sell jdm stuff because itz honda of america. i doubt they ever will or even consider it...with such a huge aftermarket and importers...i think the dealership would just lose money....

When my distributor went out, I did check all the options, including the dealership just for fun. They wanted $750.
At that point, I'm not just disgusted; I'm insulted.
I was installing a new clutch, and I wanted to get some new bushings. They only cost $20. Of course, the dealership doesn't have them in stock. It seems like anything I want, they don't have in stock. I can get parts ordered faster from Autozone.
At the tremendous price they charge, they should be able to get things fast enough to be useful. They don't.
Having said that, when I've called the dealership here to find out if one part is compatible with different a model of Honda, the guy at the dealership has been very helpful.
Flunky
PS-Back to the topic: No. Dealership price would be prohibitively expensive. Increased availability of the parts we work our asses off to find would only dilute the appeal. Finally, seeing someone with lots of money that just ordered everything from the dealer would only serve to arouse my contempt. Ptuiy!

Hey guys, my boos just looked at this post and saw everything you said and he would like to make a few pointers. First about price, these are not gonna be honda parts from the dealership. The dealership is gonna act as a dist. for the parts by having them bought off of salved cars, even ours, and having them shipped by honda for lower freight. Second, he has never heard of the JDM style untill me and the two other guys brought it up. Most likely he won't really even advertsie JDM parts, just if you want them, we will get them. There are some loopholes that he can jump through to get parts over here cheap. I priced out a ZC front clip to be about 700. Does this change any opions?

Don't hate the dealerships. It took a week to get a head gasket for my car. So instead i got one from NAPA and guees what, two weeks later, the gasket is leaking. I will stick with my Honda parts at an employye dioscount:finger:
