hey guys,
well now its getting to be 90 plus degrees out and i need to get this problem fixed. the guy who owned the van before me said he charged the ac and it worked good for a few days and stopped. and he didn't want to mess with it...
so, i went out today and done the basic things. started motor hit the button and no compressor, checked the pressure, added some freon and the compressor turned on..a little noisy but it worked. topped it off with some dye and took it for a 45min drive..started to get nice and cool..not cold, but nice enough to make it comfy.... came back opened the hood and it looked like a explosion of dye...:cwm27:...
it was everywhere...so i guess the leak is big. any ideas of where to start now? does the 3.4 seem to leak in a certain place or what?
also the compressor works but is loud, could it be the source?..and the rear roof vents were and still are ice cold, but the front vents is only cool..what does this mean?
any help would be great..its to hot for no ac:mad:

...just to figure out the picture...what year?....96 and on.....of course....but...?
First suspect is generally the condenser, that is, the front radiator. THen, r134 sniffers can pinpoint the source, but that comes from professional service....
..ahh...too hot already?....I'd like that here in my place:grinyes:

its a 96, come to think of it, there was a lot of die around the top and bottom of the radiator. i figured it was just thrown there, i have a guy that is junking his transport and i have been saving alot of money getting his parts. i think i'll just pick up his condenser and swap them..
that a big job to do?

I had mine changed ..mmm..10-12 years ago (mine is 93). . It was changed by a AC shop...replaced the aluminum original with a copper type. QUite straight forward. Some front end components must be removed to make room, but that was simple and quick.

Front end has to come off to replace the condenser ....
