Photo studio in box

Hi, model-brothers.
Does anyone tryied any Photo studio in box? I would like to hear reviews about Micro-Markt's one:

I haven't tried any of those as I personally find it much more economical to make your own. It's really easy. All you really need is a large box, paper and some tracing paper, all of which shouldn't cost you more than $10. I'm sure you'll be happy with those products you linked though. The Tamiya one looks larger and more versatile.

I have the Tamiya one and TBH it's a waste of money.

It looks great in the promo/demo video but in reality it is somewhat fussy to put together, rather delicate and prone to collapse and doesn't provide sufficient net photo area. Also, it's too large to leave it permanently up (unless you are lucky to have a lot of free space).

A simpler and cheaper photographer's shadow cube or - as mentioned above - a home made solution will provide a better solution IMHO.

If, however, you really want the Tamiya solution, you can buy mine. Just send me a PM :D

how can u justify all that money for a tamiya box when you get these results from a home built job!!

I build myself as well... Using HLJ box (what else...:rofl:)

I use a translucent paper. It is called Mahjong Paper here in Malaysia.

A quick google search can up with good results.

I tried etching, and my own decal printing (unfortunately can't show you the results right now) and many other things.
So I can tell you: all these things, like making your self photo studio are great and interesting, but time and effort consuming, and left no time for modeling.
Finaly - some DIY box photo studio takes much space in our small flats.
So I asking you to share views about professional stuff.
For now I see: The Tamyja's one is not money worthing.

If that's the case, I think Micro Mark is cheaper and value for money but Tamiya is better in terms of ease of set-up (just my assumption because I'm not sure how the assembly is) plus it looks sturdier than the Micro Mark. Just my opinion...

I'm sorry but I don't agree with this at all. In terms of DIY photography all you essentially need is a large enough sheet of paper/card as can be seen in Entau's picture. The box is there merely to hold up the translucent sides for a softer light.

Doing DIY photo-etching, casting etc is different as you need to build your tools and materials first. It takes under a minute to set up a sheet of paper. Storage is simple, rolling it up like you would a poster. My first one started out looking like druid_99's but now I just have one like Entau's as it's much quicker and easier.

If I had to choose one of those linked I'd probably pick Tamiya's as it looks larger and has a solid frame to mount lighting if you desire.

You are right, the Tamiya is not worth it, but the other one looks good for the price, especially when one reads the text and sees that it come with all the lighting and also the camera support.

I also agree with you that a DIY might be cheap, but certainly not folding to be store in a small place.

Well, a sheet of paper is enough when you making pictures outdoors in cloudy wether. But as I living in apartment house and have possibilitys to picture my modeling in evenings, I need a light and translucent box, which could be disassembled for storage.
