I purchased the WRONG car! Please help….

I hope you guys are having a better day than I am….here’s what happened: on Friday April 9th, 2010, I purchased – from an authorized Honda dealer - a certified pre-owned, one owner 2007 Honda Fit with 35,500 miles on it. It has a clean Carfax vehicle history and went through Honda’s standard 150 point check. When I test drove it, I really loved everything about it - it’s “pick up”, turning radius, brand reputation, cargo space and brakes. The one aspect of the car’s handling that I HATED, however, was the suspension/sensitivity to the road. I know that it’s a small car, and that it is a “trade off” – you feel all the dips and bumps on the road in exchange for awesome gas mileage and small size. Also, this car appears to have the smallest tires that I’ve seen on the road today – maybe aside from golf carts and Smart cars. Is that a major factor that contributes to its sensitivity on the road? I would be willing to have very large tires installed on it, but only if it would make a very significant difference in the car’s sensitivity to road bumps and dips, etc.

Anyway, I went against my “gut instinct” and convinced myself to buy the car. I’ve owned it for exactly two days now, and I’m having a very, very difficult time accepting the VERY sensitive suspension on this car (especially on the not-so-smooth streets of New York City)

Do you think that there’s any chance that I could contact the dealership, explain my complaints about the car and that I do not want my money back, but that I simply want to make a one-time exchange for a Honda Civic or older Accord? At this point, I’ll even offer to pay them an additional $500 to make the switch. Please help, I am kind of freaking out right now because I spent A LOT of money on this car, and basically what it amounts to is a very uncomfortable ride for me.

Sure contact the dealership, they will be more than happy to realize further profit, by that I mean it's a fresh start, your vehicle will be a trade in.

If it's a good, honest dealership you shouldn't have a problem returning it, they may want a few dollars for re-doing the paperwork but not $500. I'd just be completely honest with them and hopefully they will take pity. I've heard bad things about the rough ride in the FIT, may I suggest a Corolla? They're a little numb behind the wheel, but very comfortable and 'isolated' for a small car.
