I just took it in for transmission slipping and they checked the check engine codes on it and had 2 for the Throttle Position Sensor and 2 for the EGR. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I just replace the TPS? I dont know what to do about the EGR since there are multiple parts. The transmission shop said maybe the TPS is what was making me think of the transmission. It has 127k miles on it.

thank for any input.

He did not give me the numeral codes. Do I need to go to autozone or something to get them.

Click here (http://www.troublecodes.net/Ford/) Do the code retreival for the EEC IV system. Then scroll down to the code list for your vehicle.

Ok, here is what I got from it.

558 558 long pause 1124332124332
The long pause was about 6 seconds.

I think the 558 is EGR

I did this with the engine off and key in the run position.

558 is the EGR Vacuum Regulator
124 it Throttle Position Sensor high voltage
332 Is EGR Insufficient Flow detected

So look for a leak on the vacuum to the EGR Vacuum Regulator. Looks like a small hat with 2 vacuum lines going to it.
Check the sensor on top of the EGR to see if it is operating properly.
Check Throttle Position Sensor to be sure it is not hanging.

Update:
I replaced the TPS and that went away.
I replaced the EGR valve and still have the 558 and 332. I only have 1 vaccum line going to the top of it. How do I check it? Can I just put a gauge on it and see what the vaccum is and where can I find what it should be.

How do I check the valve position sensor on top of the EGR?

thanks for all the help
