At the end of my rope! Wife's car stalled while she was driving at about 40mph. She freaked but managed to coast off the road. She has R/A so had a very hard time controlling the car to steer it off the road and stop. A nice tow truck driver towed the car home for her, for free, which you don't see happen often. Anyway, he said he thought her fuel pump was shot. I look at the car and the Anti Theft lite is on, solid, not flashing. I pulled the fuel pump relay and tested the circuit and found the output side to the fuel pump is grounded. Thus I suspect the passlock has triggered. Have tried all reset procedures with no luck. I pulled the lock cylinder from the ignition switch, removed the cylinder from the bore and cleaned both with brake cleaner and compressed air. Twice! Tried reset procedure again and the Theft Lite still stays on solid. HELP!!!??? Any ideas how to get this thing going?

Fixed! Hope this helps the next person. Called in a friend who checked and confirmed the lock/cylinder was toast. I called the local GM Parts Dept and gave them the serial number of the car and they coded a new lock cylinder. As soon as I put it in the vehicle went into the learn procedure and the anti theft lite turned off. However, we could hear the fuel pump attempt to start but didn't. Banged on the bottom of the tank, front and center and the pump would barley run, but the car would start. Back to the GM parts guy for a fuel pump. Disconnected all tank fittings and pulled filler hose from tank so I could get a hose in to pump out a FULL tank of gas. There is a check ball set-up in the tank where the filler hose attaches that prevents someone from cyphoning your gas. Was able to slip a hose past it after sticking my finger in there to find a spot. Anyway, an hour later she is back together with a new pump. Not sure how or why the passlock and the fuel pump would go at the same time, but they did.

You had a fuel pump problem, passlock problem needs to be flashing.
