Replacing Rocker Panel

I have a '97 LeSabre that has the rocker panel on the driver's side rusted out thanks to all the salt they put down here in Minnesota. Is this a job an average do-it-yourselfer can do or are we talking a job for a body shop? What could I expect for an estimate from the shop? I have some spray paint in the exact color that I special ordered. I could prime and paint the rocker myself and save some cost.

Just from memory I believe someone talked about covers that go over the rocker panels. You put those on and finish to suit and match. Covers the problem.

If you can find a Olds 88 in a salvage yard, they have a alumiumn rocker panel on them. The rocker panels were on the 92-95 olds. I picked a pair up for about 15.00 and put them on my 94 lesabre. I assume the rocker panel lenghts are the same for your car and the olds. You will need the panel and the the plastic piece on each end to hold them on to your car.
