2002 Silhouette-seat belt jammed in sliding door - stuck!

The metal part of the seat belt got caught in the power sliding door on the passenger side at the bottom near the rear. There is about 1.5" of the steel tip sticking outside of the van on the bottom door jamb and the door is obviously protruding on the bottom left where the seat belt is jammed in there.

I have not had any success in opening the door manually by pulling or pushing in many different combinations of locations from the outside or inside the van. The door is stuck in a closed/latched position. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Mike

Have someone pulling back on the door trying to open it from the inside and outside and gently bounce off the door near the rear to release the latch with your body.

thanks, I will try it tonight! Is the rear latch in the middle of the door?

IIRC the rear latch is at about the same heighth as the front one, I just bounce off a stuck door with the side of my body to try to jar whatever is sticking it loose, in your case you want to flex the door slightly to allow the release mechanism to release. While someone is trying to open the door, the jar to the latch area will usually free the mechanism to open.

Friday, while I was at work my 4yr old son somehow got it open! That settles it, I'm having him fix the cars from now on!

I'll try your trick if it ever happens again. Thanks for the help!

You won't need any tricks, IF your son will cough up the answer. I'm quite sure a lot of us would like to know.
