I wonder how long it will be before I can build one of these babies...? I think Fujimi would be better off doing one of these than the 599XX... I can dream, eh?

It would take tooling near a whole new kit which makes it a long shot....but I hope Fujimi or Revell will.

I could see Hobby Design doing it, just need new wheels, hood, trunk lid, bumpers and sills and seats (which look similar to F430 CS).

Let's hope for Fujimi or Revell. I could care less about Hobby Design; their resin is overpriced and undersized (I've seen Veyron's 599XX up close). Too many hassles and excuses for the $$.

new variation of a car is confirmed and people instantly want a model producer to make a kit of it?
whatever happened to the days when people scratch built/modified existing kits to build their dreams?

I know.
I'm just dreaming of the "Golden Age" and also partly venting my frustration at how much trans-kits and the like seem to have taken over the hobby.

...or the licensing agreement that brings access to the real thing to measure and photograph in detail, and probably the CAD files as well, these days...
Sure, I probably COULD do it myself, with the reference that'll no doubt emerge onto the internet over time, but I don't think it's that big a stretch to imagine that at least one of the two main producers of licensed Ferrari kits might decide to release a model of the fastest road-going Ferrari ever, especially since they've both released the _other_ GTO's...

Revell and Fujimi have the license. What's worrying is Fujimi hasn't announced a 458 Italia yet.

DonŽt worry guys. IŽm sure Fujimi (like Aoshima with the Merc SL) have spies here on AF that register what we all want and see a need for. And the 458 is the "new 430" so I think in due time weŽll see one from Fujimi aswell...
In the meantime, keep posting that we all want a 458 from Fujimi.....they might hear us you know
Just my € 0.02 :)

I know.
I'm just dreaming of the "Golden Age" and also partly venting my frustration at how much trans-kits and the like seem to have taken over the hobby.
I have too many projects and too much ADD to want to tackle the conversion; especially when it's likely that either the main company (like Revell/Fujimi/Tamiya) or aftermarket may offer it. Not every subject is worth the time/effort to make a conversion by oneself. I'd rather spend my time doing custom work and conversion work on something that I know I won't be getting elsewhere because of the unique factor.
Just ask Veyron about his partially-finished Scuderia conversion for an F430. I told him them "I'm going to wait for the one from Fujimi" before Fujimi had ever announced it. I jinxed his entire project

You didn't like the "Classic Racing Livery" then? ;-)
I've got the dark blue with a white stripe and the "Lotus" one in my Ferrari.com garage as well!
bestest,
M.

I know.
I'm just dreaming of the "Golden Age" and also partly venting my frustration at how much trans-kits and the like seem to have taken over the hobby.
This is the golden age. As someone who doesn't shy away from big, overborn conversions and modifications, I am really happy with what we've got in the way of transkits. I don't buy any (to be fair) but along with transkits comes a wealth of aftermarket parts - enough to make the 1:1 aftermarket blush sometimes. Just ten years ago all you could find were some turned aluminum parts and PE sets that only had one layer, and very little of that.
Now you can find very sophisticated PE for just about anything that comes out - that's great! You can find wheels for just about anything - awesome! You can find resin seats, dashboards, you name it, it's out there. We have so many options now, I'm in hog heaven. I have some rudimentary resin skills, but no machining or PE skills or tools, and not very good scratchbuilding skills. Nevertheless, I can make models that I feel are worthwhile. It still takes skill to make things look nice, but long gone are the days where we had to use thread for sparkplug wires and felt for interiors.
This is the golden age.
