If the EGR valve is closed (no vacuum and not stuck) it should not cause stalling when coming to a stop. An open EGR can cause an engine to stall at idle since that's essentially a large vacuum leak.
I'd actually start by checking the age of the battery. These cars seem to have a very sensitive electrical system. When you're coming to a stop you're adding load to the charging system (brake lights) and dropping alternator output as well (lower engine speed). Oddly load testing the battery doesn't seem to give a good indication of how well it will workin the car, you almost have to go off a general rule of thumb that if the battery is 4 or more years old, replace it.

I just replaced my battery, because of similar issue. Not stalling or shutting off. Just abrupt idle drops at stop. But that didn't fix it, and no check engine light. Although it does fluctuate after start, when it's coming down from 1500rpm (cold start) it kind of bounces up and down, but not visual on tach, just can hear it and feel it. And at the same time it's not rough idleing, just bounces when dropping to normal range after engine start.
