'94 blinker issues

My blinkers rarely work. If I turn them on and off several times then they may blink 3-4 times then stop and must be turned off over and over to get them to do anything again. When they don't blink, the indicator light on the inside does not turn on but the side light (that illuminates to the left or right when the blinker and headlights are on) will turn on. The lights themselves all seem to be alright, because if I turn the hazard lights on all lights blink without problems and the indicator lights on the dash blink along with them. But when I want them to indicate a turn they rarely work and only for for a handful of blinks at a time when they do work. What could possibly cause this? Thank you in advance.

Usually this is a flasher issue.

To elaborate on max's answer.... there is a replaceable turn-signal flasher unit, usually mounted on the fuse panel. Your owners manual will tell you where it is. It is easy to replace.
BTW the hazard flasher uses an entirely separate flasher unit, which explains why it still works well.

Awesome, thanks. One more thing though: I cant seem to find the thing. I looked up what it looks like and where it is on the same model but different years (I can't find anywhere that tells me the location on the '94) and I am able to find the hazard flasher, just not the turn-signal flasher. Is there anywhere I could go that would give me a better idea as to where, exactly, I would find the turn-signal flasher? Again, thank you for helping :)

I've been flipping the turn signal lever on and off to get a click out of it to try and follow it, with no luck.

Never mind, I was able to find and replace it. Thank you again for your help!
