Driver/Passenger Side Water Leak Found

I'm posting this in case anybody else has had problems finding where water is leaking into the cabin getting the carpet wet after a rain.

I bought a 1996 GMC Seirra SLE a couple of months ago and noticed a strong moldy/mildew smell. I noticed that the carpet was wet on the driver and passenger side from both front kick plates back to the rear kick plates. I knew it wasn't from my AC or the windshield, since the firewall was completely dry. After reading some of the posts here and on the Silverado forum, I thought it was probably the weatherstripping around the doors since people have had problems with those before and because the weatherstripping around both bottoms of the door were wet. I even changed the weatherstripping on the bottom of the doors. No fix.

I finally found both leaks. On the door itself, water was leaking from the bottom speaker and just below it through the door vent/window run channel assembly gasket, then running down through the door panel trim onto the carpet. I used Dap 3.0 clear sealant and sealed the hell out of the outside of the speakers and around the gasket on the bottom right. I even drilled a few holes below the run channel assembly gasket where I sealed and made a "channel" with sealant so that any water would drain through the holes back into the door. Now it's dry as a bone. Now it's on to replacing the carpet.

Hope this helps.
