Just searching around,
does anybody ever produce a kit (or also a die cast model) in 1/24 scale of the 1998 Porsche gt1 evo?

I mean this car.

Yes, two kits where released in the past. One from ScaleProductions and one from Modeler's. Very hard to find, all online shops (or all I know off) are sold out and ebay never seem to have one. I got lucky afters years of searching to find one (well a kind fellow forummember sold his 2nd kit to me  I am Roger still VERY THANKFULL!!! :grinyes:

Are these ones good kits? I've never seen it, just asked before start with a scratchbuild model. If it exist...prefer wait and search around (and as u said it will be a LONG searching).
Strange no others produce this wonderful porsche.

They are both nice kits. The Modelers kit was mastered by Hiro. The Scale Productions is a copy of the Modelers with small changes. The Modelers kits body was cast in resin and metal with some photoetch. The decals were also printed in Japan on the Modelers kit.

It's on my pile of things to build before I die. I can take some pics of the Scale Productions version I have if you would like a little later in the week. The only complaint I have with it is some of the corners are a little too rounded off. It's a nice looking kit though. I had always wished Tamiya had come out with one to go with their really nice 1996 version.

BTW, the Scaleproduction kit was a little bit later copied from Blackbox

The Scaleproduction kit had no metals parts for the rear to be puttied on, but it came with a totally new rear, turned parts, ...

Worth it?... Not sure, I got the panoz copy from ebay last year and must say it needs quite a lot of more work plus scratchbuilding parts to complete it into a nice model. No PE is a big bummer too! Mine had quite a lot of resin airbubles inwards and outwards (especially in the intakes etc.)
It's the only alternative at the moment if they have them back in stock, but I would wait for an ebay listing..

Hello to everyone.

I guess I must be a lucky guy , as I am the happy owner of both of these kits! (Scaleproduction & Modeler's) it was a longtime search at ebay, but I finaly managed to get the two kits.

I never suspected the Scaleproduction to be a variation on the Modeler's kit, but that was soon obvious to me as I got to compare both side by side. They are indeed two beautyfull kits, of one of the most beautyfull racers ever to exist (to me, that is) and I fully recommend anyone to get his hands in one of these, if the oportunity knocks at your door!

I am leaving you a link to my local car modelling site, you can judge for yourselves by the pictures. Enjoy!...:evillol:

cursa model seems a nice body, slot car.
All the models are curbside, wonder if it would be possible to make a full open model starting from a curbside slotcar body kit.

The price seems also very resonable, will try contact theme.

Do they have the evo at the new porsche museum?..it will be another good reason to go to stuttgard and take some pics of it

Thanks for the correction, it is in fact a Model Production kit and not a Model Design. Pictures at the Renaissance site are a great help to help the build, thanks.

By the way, if anyone would be interested in a 1/43 scale model of this car, I encourage you to get their model (Renaissance) it is also a beautyfull kit, and with opening doors interesting detailing is a possibility!:licka:

Dear Fellows
This is Black Box Prototypes chiming in. Black Box is still alive and well.
We have just released a new trans kit for the Tamiya Sauber Mercedes C9.
Our CLR will be re-released in late May for a limited time only.

In July/August 2010 We will release A new Le Mans Prototype that will be
equal to or better than our CLR, and no Mike Profil24 did not do the pattern
work on this one, who does your pattern work?

http://raccoon-shop.com/SHOP/bbp_tk02.htmlWe are on Automotive Forums each and every day as lurkers/monitors of all
things in the auto modeling community.

For those of you who enjoy Le Mans/Road race type 1/24th scale Prototypes
and are tired of the same old kits and subjects, keep your eye on us.
We are moving ahead with many prototypes that have been ignored both
past and present.

For the record the CLR is not 1/25th scale!!!!!!

We have received many request for the CLR.
Some one in Germany is selling it as a slot car.

The new Sport/Prototype will bring smiles to many faces.
It will add another model to Prototype racing history

The Pictures you see on the profil 24 webside, are Master Parts for the Blackbox Kit.
I was always in contact at that time with profil 24 to get this kit and he told me the Master is for Black Box.

I have build the Blackbox CLR i will post here some pictures of my "Learn how to fly Baby" Diorama.
and also the car alone.

About the Porsche GT1 1998 i also had both of the kits.
The Modellers and also the Scale Production.
I have build the Scale Production Kit,cause some parts are better castet then the Modellers Version for me.
The Modellers Kit i have sold to a member here.

@Outpost 961

Great to hear that Blackbox coming up with new kits.
I thaught this company dos not existe anymore, cause i never hear something about there news.
Good that you hide your news until its on the market, thats the right way hiding from copy your kits.
I will keep an eye on you.
Do you have a own website??

I unfortunately agree with you!...

It is to me quite frequent to find at ebay people selling what are obviously copies of other model kits; Mostly of small production companies like yourselves who have to work and who knows, struggle, to be able to come out with new models. I belive it must not be easy to find and produce a model-kit that is worth producing in short-run production and still find a profit, if pattern and mold "piracy" keeps going on, then we surely risk to soon find ourselves with a big void in small company model production!...and those are to me, the ones that bring a special fullfilment on my modelling.

Please do not buy pirate copies of other models, they are hard work! and represent what keeps us going on modelling... we gotta love it!:smokin:

I guess that makes us both lucky guys!...I agree with you that the Scale production kit probably has better casting (at least the bodywork surface is smoother than on Modeler's kit) but the fact that they both have diferent assembly and even diferent choice on materials (wheels for example) means the finished result will be perhaps a little diferent?...anyway, I never had the courage to part with any of these kits, they are both beautyfull and were very hard to find...and hopefully will be both built, one day!

I have your great CLR kit, I don`t know why, but the wheelbase
from the model is ~106mm

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_CLR
Radstand/wheelbase: 2670 mm

2670mm / 1:25 = 106,8mm

2670mm / 1:24 = 111,25

I don`t know, are the 2670mm correct ?

I finally received coursa slot 1/24 kit. As donor I would like to use an old 996 gt1 evo 97 (UT/revell kit). think also the engine bay can be used for the 98 version.

the resin kit is crisp and lacks of details in a lot of places, it is purely a slot racing body, but is always better than nothing.

Also the front lights can be the same. Have to search in my spare box, think I saved a couple of lights somewhere.

Hi,

donŽt get me wrong, but looking at that resin body, IŽd send it back.

It looks like copied copy and the last mold was already at its end before your issue was produced.

Just the front hood, not smooth, you see the texture of GFK, mirrors at the body, frontlights, panel-lines that cannot deepened because of the thin body - lots of your pencil markings are just a hint, that the body is far from good to make a display-model out of it. Maybe some slotters may use it for driving, but a body kit price of 62 Euro compared to that quality - no, youŽd better wait to find a good model in ebay.

lovegt40
06-14-2010, 06:51 AM
naah..I would like to try it.U know when u like a model and u ANYWAY want to have it?..thats my story here. The body will be drilled all over to remove all the crispy parts, the shape of the car is anyway convincing. I am not scared...will try it ;)
U are right when u say the mould of this model was already dead since long time before they sell me mine...LOL, internet buying is a thrill sometimes.

Is a challenge, what encurages me is the deep use of plastic kits accessories I can have here (both from tamiya, revell and UT).At today...without this model, I cant think to do it.

I purchased your Merc model back when it was available. Overall it is a nice casting and built up extremely well. There were, however, two things that were incorrect. In the instructions, the rear wing uprights that come out from the body which are shown in the photo copied built-up images are backwards. The upper section on the uprights are shown facing the wrong direction. Anyone building the model using those directions will have ended up building it incorrectly. The second issue, and perhaps the most problematic are the screens in the back. Maybe the pattern maker at Profil didn't take his meds that day and as a result, botched the measurements on the two P/E parts and the recesses they go into. The measurements are way off. All you need to do is remove the two P/E parts and place them on top of each other and you see the huge difference between the two. Hope you manage to fix those two issues on your kit, otherwise, if you do come out with anything new, I hope that the crispness of the casting is as good as the Merc was.

wow, my very old thread about this beautiful porsche...
My update (being my thread..LOL..).
I ended up selling the coursa slot model to a slot guy, and he was too happy.
Me too cause I found later a much nicer slotbody coming from germany and obtained from modellers or whatever body.I payd it 8 euros :D ...nobody was watching the bid! Sometimes it happens and lucky turns also...

It came prepainted (really badly and heavy 2k gloss) but anyway allows to make it as full view model, things not possible with all models mentioned till now. Those the body condition when it arrived to me:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ABC2uPsxh7g/UVGjc3avdEI/AAAAAAAAKV4/sDhIaZUYhUs/w529-h425-no/gt198.jpg

and this after a full strip and little rework by me.Of course many parts, as the upper windshields , need fitting and reshape, but as micha said..it is anyway better tha cursa slot. LOL :

and btw there is a guy from Uk (tony hill ant1969 in ebay) selling copies of the modellers/sp kit very wellcasted for more or less 80 GBP. full decalsheet included.

Too nice porsche also this one....another of my future modelprojects..:naughty::iceslolan
